Crazy October - part 2

So we got back from the wedding Sunday night/Monday morning and had a crazy week. Stephen had to get back to work, catch up on what he had missed, and prepare for a hockey game. The living room was PILED with things from the weekend (it's AMAZING how much stuff 6 people need for just a weekend! Our hotel room only had one bed in it, so we had to bring beds for all 4 of the kids - that took up a ton of space, then all the diapers, clothes, toiletries, etc.) It took me several days just to do the laundry (in my defense, even though it was just 3 days, it was really 7 different sets of outfits for 6 people: travel clothes for Friday, then rehearsal dinner clothes, day time clothes for Saturday, then wedding clothes, travel clothes for Sunday, plus pjs and one day we all went swimming in the hotel pool in our clothes!)

Anyway, I pretty much just washed the clothes and then repacked them in the suitcases since we were leaving again on Friday. It still took me all week to prepare, but I got it all done. (Throw in there that Thursday afternoon we had to go get our picture taken for our church directory. I think you can tell in the picture that we're frazzled!)

Anyway, so Friday morning (we woke the kids up before the sun came up - it was EARLY ) we left on our 11 hour drive to Florida. Yes that makes 33 hours in the car over 2 weekends/44 hours in the car over 3!! It was still okay. After 3 years of asking, we finally got a set of grandparents to agree to come with us! So we let one of the older kids ride in their car the whole trip down there - we switched at every stop. It was much more manageable with only 3 in the car because it made them all fit more easily and have a little more space. We had all of them to and from the wedding and also on the way back from Florida, but at least we had that break on the way down to Florida.

So on Sunday we drove from Kentucky through West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina, and then Friday we drove from North Carolina through South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. So 7 different states in 5 days - not bad!

Pictures of our vacation to follow... as soon as I can get them off the camera and organized!

Whew!  You should rename your family The Travelin' Rutherfords!  Which set of grandparents went along?  That's nice that you were able to have one child ride with them at all times on the way down!  I can't wait to see the pictures!

Your week in between trips reminds me of one summer for us.  For about a month, we'd get home from one trip, unpack, repack, and leave again within 1 day.  The one week was when I was at camp, so that week I got home from camp and had just a couple of hours to repack before heading out again!
